Bass

Initially Stephan wanted to learn to play the drums, but he was told the school had too many drummers. So he chose Saxophone. Then in his junior year of high school Stephan stumbled across an old Teisco guitar that had been in the family longer than he had. After a handful of lessons he grew tired of playing "How Much Is That Doggy In The Window." Utilizing his knowledge of music, he set off to teach himself.

After studying and learning many a song he flipped to the back of one of his guitar books to find the bass tabulature. While analyzing the music he came to a grand revelation "Hey, the 4 bass strings are the same as the 4 lower strings on this guitar!" He soon realized that you can't pop-and-slap on a guitar. So he got himself a job and with his first paycheck ever ran down to Discount Music and purchased himself a bass. Shortly there after he formed a band(The Jesters) that consequently broke up after the band members graduated.

Stephan spent the next 5 years sharpening his skills because he had seen too many people that said they were "in a band" and sucked to high heaven. In 2000 he joined a classic rock cover band called "Sgt. Shears Reunion Band." After the keyboard player moved away and took the gear with him, Stephan joined "Steven Wells and the Suicide Kings"(which was renamed "Ghostowne"). While on his 5 year mission with Ghostowne, Stephan met up with Brian Anders(now of "Interstate I") and was given the opportunity to play: The 2002 Winter Olympics(where he first played with Sam Cottrell), The Utah State Fair, and the world famous Whisky A-Go-Go in Hollywood. After a short musical hiatus he joined a harder rocking band called "The Trip". Just as they were about to hit the clubs he received a phone call from his old buddy Sam. Having been enamored with bands like the Flogging Mollys, the opportunity to be in an Irish Rock band called "Swagger" was irresistible.
